One of my Favorite Moscatos, perfect for light times afternoons, it’s goes fast. Simply sweet and just gorgeous for boring days or naughty breakfasts — a year ago
Really interesting now but would love to see how it develops in a few years. A little naughty off the hop! Would casually swear a bit and tell you openly about its sex life because it hasn’t quite solidified its identity yet but wants to seem confident. Nice dark red fruit tones and eucalyptus notes. Some sweaty leather thing that feels distinctly Italian.. Cab Franc meets Syrah and they work on a group project and everyone surprisingly gets along just fine, — 3 years ago
Popped and poured, enjoyed over two days. Best on Day 2. In the glass, the 2019 Sandlands “Lodi” is deep ruby with a translucent core. Medium+ viscosity. On the nose, high intensity with dark cherry, ripe bramble fruit, freshly cracked Tellicherry pepper, black licorice, stone, and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the mixed fruit set, black pepper and licorice with bergamot and baking spices. The wine is so fresh with one of the sexiest textures you’ll ever encounter in a Zinfandel. The finish is savory and the black pepper note goes "on and on and on, on and on and on, checka check it out to the break of break of dawn" (to quote Naughty by Nature). This is a truly remarkable Zinfandel from Lodi. — 7 months ago
This is their Bordeaux style red. The nose shows; dark currants, blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, black plum, blueberries, strawberries & cherries. Dark chocolate, vanilla, dark spice, clove, some nutmeg, dark fruit cola, black licorice, a whiff of cherry cough syrup with dark, red and blue fresh & withering florals.
The body is near full with dark, meat, tarry and sticky tannins. The structure, tension, length and balance allow it to drink early but needs to be held 6-8 years plus. Dark currants, blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, black plum, blueberries, strawberries & cherries. Dark chocolate, vanilla, dark spice, clove, some nutmeg, dark fruit cola, black licorice, a whiff of cherry cough syrup, deep, dark, heat penetrating dark spice, tobacco with ash, big leather with dark, red and blue fresh & withering florals. The acidy is good. The finish is nice, balanced but needs time to reveal its best self. 91 now with the potential for a little higher score in six to eight years.
We also had their 2017 Divas Chenin Blanc. It was very enjoyable but, didn’t have time to take notes as we had to get to Raats.
