Ty Caton

Caton Vineyard TyTanium Sonoma Valley Red Blend 2006

Found this while rummaging in the cellar for a wine with leftover pot roast. What a find! A terrific pairing. A terrific wine, 37% Cab Sauv, 29% Petite Sirah, 29% Syrah, 5% Merlot. A masterpiece. — 19 days ago

Del Comune di Barolo Nebbiolo 2014

Nobody does it like Roagna. This approaches almost a masterpiece category and is done without the help of a strong year. What sets Roagna apart from everyone else, is their quality of acids, not just in the intensity but in their breadth, consistency and dimension. The minerality is cool and dark, and the tannic support is substantial without being obviously grippy or dusty. — 2 months ago

With 2018 CC has gone to another level. A vintage I prefer to 2014 and 2017. More depth. More harmony. Gorgeous nose. Lemon oil. Lemon pith, stunning spice and deep penetrating minerality. Hint of green Apple and tons of wet earth. Just a slamming nose. New nuances approach every 10 minutes. Beguiling and dizzying. Palate is so refined, fresh and sleek. So nimble, mineral and racy. Amazing palate presence and near perfect focus. Ripe and so juicy but with a very serious and very intense mineral attack and then lemon and lime gumdrops. Perfect balance and jaw dropping purity. Infinite finesse. So focused and lean yet this is like a laser on the palate. Amazing texture and a sense of tactile mineralic sweetness. Awesome mid palate and stunning dissipating finish. Awesome inner mouth aromas and super salty finish. Lingers and lingers. A masterpiece. — 3 months ago

Jack's Masterpiece Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Obviously we’ll crafted - have mostly really enjoyed these impressive Hall offerings. This Jack’s for whatever reason wasn’t as generous as some I’ve had. But I’ll keep after it. — a month ago

This is lights out. So much better than any other bottle I’ve had of this. Insane nose with mad mulch. Spice, mushrooms. But dried. Allspice. Sour cherries. Strawberry. Insane spice. Wood shavings. So so so crazy. 9.6 nose. Palate is so elegant, juicy and has a hint of succulence and an even smaller hint of rusticity. Amazing texture, freshness and such vivid fruit. This is truly amazing. There is SO much going on because Hündsruck is the best German Pinot vineyard. A masterpiece. — 4 months ago
