Fox Hill Vineyard Sangiovese Friulano

Fruit juicy co-fermentation...85% Sangiovese 15% Fruilano. Early heat wave at Michigan Lake house... slight chill, tempted to break out the ice cubes. Tannic grip on finish, strawberry/fruit punch aromas... nice bright acidity. Very unusual, but fun... can imagine this as a yummy slushee. — a month ago

Cabernet Franc 2018

Bright and sour, would be perfect for a picnic with some pasta Primavera and perhaps some shrimp. Love getting to try regional wine specialties! Purchased from the friendly and knowledgeable folks at House of Pure Vin. — 5 months ago

Still going strong - now showing same black & blue fruits w/subtle hi-tone note along w/many secondary flavors of minerals, graphite, savory, forest floor and white pepper. Def northern Rhone vibe here, teeth staining, inky brooding & powerfully built, grippy - still can’t believe it’s from Mi — 2 months ago

Interesting to see more wines being made away from the traditional strongholds in the USA.

Bob: indeed - it’s like the proliferation of microbreweries, there is so much good wine being produced in places you don’t realize had that capability. I travel frequently and try to find gems in out of the way places

Blueberry Franc

Picked up this gem on vacation a few years ago on Lake Michigan: gorgeous Cab Franc they made into Port, aged 10 yrs then blended w/blueberry wine. It’s fascinating ... this stuff is deep and mellow w/Tawny aromas of baked cherry spice cake with raisins and walnuts then the blueberry compote comes in. Not cloying or syrupy - just flat out delicious. I always try these types of wines @ tasting rooms to find treasures like this. — 5 months ago
