Circa J.L. Chave Sélection Saint-Joseph Roussanne 2018

This is still very pretty, lots of nice texture, nuance, impeccable balance. Confectionary, fennel seed and floral nose, mineral, tangy, licorice root palate. Still some freshness but it may be time to drink up. What a steal this was. — 3 months ago

J.L. Chave Sélection Farconnet Hermitage Syrah 2014

I’m sorry but this wine for me was rather rustic and for the price I would not buy it again. The tannins were a little coarse and the finish was just medium. The aromas were more about the leather and earth and less about the fruit or spice. I have been fortunate enough to drink some great Crozes-Hermitage and small producers from Cote-Rotie lately that I believe are higher quality at lower prices. In short, if you buy this thinking you’re getting #Chave #Hermitage at a bargain price...you’re not. — 3 years ago

Silène J.L. Chave Sélection Crozes-Hermitage Syrah 2022

Crozes Hermitage is a favorite and this one excels. Drinking this in a restaurant in Chicago, Bistronomic. If I see this in a wine store, I’d grab a case. — 3 months ago

J.L. Chave Sélection Hermitage Blanche Marsanne Roussanne 2017

2017 enjoyed 10/7/2023. nose: caramelized pineapple, wavering between oxidative and candied. wiffs of fresh floral pass quickly, stony/mineral undertone. palate: medium body, oily viscosity, high acid and mineral leave my tongue tingling. gorgeous. glad that I opened. — 9 months ago

Offerus J.L. Chave Sélection St. Joseph Syrah 2016

Chave may be incapable of making anything less than a satisfying bottle, especially from his Hermitage St. Joseph vineyards. This is by no means one of his marquis cuvées. But it is rich with dried currant, ox blood, and herbaceous flavors on the palate. Touch of oak as well. Not much on the nose. — 5 years ago
