[Tasted on October 1, 2022 at Home]
Purchased during September 2022 visit to the winery. Wine is produced from Estate Carneros fruit. Dried cherry, raspberry and red plum fruit, with cinnamon spice, carbon, minerality and an effervescent note. Spice and fruit driven with nice backbone of acidity. — a day ago
16’ are finally softening, but still big dark fruit, but drinking more like Pinot now. black berries, dark cassis…. Big dark flavors that are slowly softening… still had many years IMO! — 9 months ago
Beautiful fruit, light — 10 months ago
It has definitely receded with age. Much different than the 2012s I enjoyed several years ago. The fruit is muted and it’s a bit more astringent. But it’s a lingering finish and it has a nice mouthfeel. The alcohol seems more pronounced now though. I liked it as different but I prefer the youthful version with more pop and balance. — 3 months ago
Originally 8.8- but became better with air (day 2). — 6 months ago
Double decant and pour with the roasted chicken and bread salad. On the nose: incredible perfumed nose of dark cherry, musky forest floor, touch of stewed meat, and spice. Taste: rich, full, lush Donum style (west slope with some age is my fav and wish I had more) with dark plum/cherry, minerals, orange peel, dried herbs, and a spiced black tea long finish. YUM!!! — 9 months ago
Carneros Pinot. Sweet fruit nose. Medium high tannin/acid.
Nice finish — 5 months ago
Pop and pour. A radiant medium ruby red color with a purplish hue. On the nose: candied raspberry, dried herbs, earth, pepper, cherries, tea, slight vanilla. Taste: A smooth, creamy, rich, nicely structured wine with dark cherry, cola, ruby red grapefruit, some earth, and a spiced tart plum finish. YUM! — 6 months ago
Happy New Year Delectable!
It's a pinot noir new year (Clos De La Roche, Donum west slope pinot, Schramsberg blanc de noir) with an oven roasted chicken dinner!
Double decant and pour the Clos de la Roche. A formidable medium ruby red color. On the nose: spicy cherry, forest floor, slight menthol, raspberry, mushrooms. Taste: smooth, creamy, lush, structured wine with cherry, gamey, minerals, and a spiced strawberry medium plus dry still some tannins kicking finish. Nice start to the night. Cheers! — 9 months ago
