Plenty of time in the bottle but still somewhat of a rowdy teenager. Deep red, bordering on purple in colour, relatively savoury in flavour with dark fruits, minerals and a liquorice undertone. There’s still quite a bit of tannin and acidity but neither are overpowering. The issue is that all of the above features have not yet fully blended together and although the finish is restrained it is also a bit rough around the edges. I think this will smooth out over time and there are still many years in this. — 3 years ago
This was my bottle, and it was opened alongside a ‘15 for comparison sake. Aromatics were similar to the ‘15 (red and black fruit) but less candied. More dirty, but not off putting. However, the finish on this was very unique...it turned very umami/earthy/herbal. Maybe an odd phase as it wakes up? Structure was still very solid (as expected for mountain fruit) so this may hold a while...
Almost two hours later: Better with air. Became more dark chocolate covered. Wow. The savory notes have faded and it’s showing a more rich and dark cocoa type finish. Very enjoyable. — 3 years ago

An nice medium oaked Chardonnay. Not as dirty as I usually like, bit very easy drinking so a white with some body. — 3 years ago

A fantastic value Cab Sauv from Paso Robles that starts out somewhat mediocre on first sip but opens up and becomes a little rowdy with powerful notes of oak, vanilla, lots of cola and blackberry after decanting for an hour. Paired perfectly with a grilled ribeye. I’d be interested in seeing how this one ages in a decade. — 7 months ago
Dark inky in color with a short, dirty brick rim.
Strong nose of black currants, cooked plums, oak, licorice, spices, coffee, pencil lead, cola, peppercorn, leather, bone fire smoke, dark chocolates and sweet candy.
Full bodied and soft with medium plus acidity and nice legs.
Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, strawberries, currants, wood, licorice, spices, dark chocolates, black pepper, graphite, peppercorn, leather, vegetables, tobacco and espresso.
Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and tart raspberries.
This is a very nice Brazilian Cabernet Sauvignon blend. Feels like an old world wine.
This 8 year old has a nice mouthfeel, but not fully balanced. The mid palate is very tasty, until the ending, which is a bit too tart for my taste. I actually liked the nose better than the palate.
Needs 90 minutes to open up properly and remove the barnyard notes.
Paired very nicely with food.
Thank you Alex for sharing.

I have written ‘dirty lemonade’ about this wine before. Realized this time that it reminds me of a deeper, more complex version of the ‘medicine ball’ tea I order at Starbucks - Mint tea, peach tea, honey, lemonade (Honey Citrus Mint tea on some menus). Good stuff. — 18 days ago
