Château Tertre Daugay

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 1998

There is something to be said about buying and holding. Just an average Bordeaux from a good vintage just sitting around for 20 years waiting to be tasted. The tannins washed away revealing a subtle and sexy wine with spicy beauty. This is the reason why I buy I hold. It usually works in my favor — 10 months ago

Le Tertre du Bosquet Sauternes White Bordeaux Blend 2019

Very nice Sauternes with delightful balance of fruit, flowers, sweetness and unctuousness, plus sufficient acids to bring it all together. Quite a delicious sipper. This was the very last bottle of Sauternes I could find at my local BevMo in Santa Monica, and it was just a half bottle at that. I should really go back to the Wine House or Wally’s for my wine purchases but this tells me how under appreciated Sauternes is in the U.S. A pity.
I enjoyed the 2019 vintage with homemade chicken liver pâté on toasted brioche.

Château Le Tertre Rôteboeuf

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 1998

1998 vintage. Bottom neck fill and flawless cork. Decanted and tasted over the course of two hours. Some sed but not too much. Medium body initially (and later) rich, fruity nose that translated well down the hatch. Wine thinned out (light-medium body) when tasted after the 30 minute mark with more earthy flavors and then fattened up again approx 45 mins later. Ultimately, left feeling it needed another 1-2 hours of decant time before starting the journey. First time with this producer. Had some solid, old-school, durty dirt and tobacco in the profile at times. Would like to taste again in the next 12 months.12.17.23. — 2 months ago

Château Grand-Pontet

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2020

2020 vintage. The last vintage for this wine as it was bought from the Bécot family ( owners of Beauséjour-Bécot) by the owners of Haut-Brion in 2021. It will be incorporated into Château Quintus (which is a merger of 3 estates: Tertre-Daugay, L'Arrosée and Grand-Pontet). Many Saint-Emilion estates disappeared, incorporated into other estates, some very good wines sadly disappeared like Curé Bon La Madeleine (now into Canon), Cadet-Piola (now into Soutard) and so on. The fact that Grand Cru Classés can legally be incorporated into Premier Grands Crus Classés tells you that you have to take the classification with more than a grain of salt. A bit shy on the nose, even after a few hours. Medium-bodied, nice value for a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé. — a year ago

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Good wine, I scored it a bit less seen the QPR is not in balance here. — 3 months ago

I’ve got one bottle of that sitting in my cellar, same vintage, that was a gift from a colleague 3 years ago. One of these days I’ll open it. Nice to see that it was enjoyable, especially since the QPR for me won’t enter into the equation 🙂

@Raun Kupiec you will certainly like it. It’s a good wine but when I compare it to it’s peers you will find better examples. Looking forward to your post!

Les Hauts du Tertre Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Very Nice margaux. A strong and powerfull vintage makes it difficult during the first hours after its opening but then it really delivers what you would expect from à margaux : Black cherry, a bit of oak, great acidity and quite a lentgh for a second wine. — 10 months ago
