Hunter Valley Sémillon 2020

Looking for a reasonable house wine ? No brainer . Floral , citrus and vibrant. I’m sure age would bring complexity. — 2 days ago

I had the pleasure of visiting this winery many years ago. Great choice, @Ira Schwartz

@Ron R If I had to guess, you had some aged semillon on that trip. 👍🏻

The Bunkhouse Hunter Valley Sémillon 2017

Quite an interesting wine.. classic to Hunter Valley for sure. It has this musky, wool like aroma laced with fresh lemon zest, key lime juice, chamomile, dusty topsoil, and white pepper. The pallet is full of bright zippy acidity, which is MUCH more palatable at a slightly warmer temp, where all the flavors and aromas start to reveal themselves - under ripe white pear, flint, lemon pith, creme, and a bright finish. Interesting to try one a week ago from Barossa Valley, and then one from its iconic home in Hunter Valley to compare the differences. — 4 years ago

Check out their Shiraz, too, particularly Graveyard.

Definitely will look into getting some! Thanks for the recommendation. I'm in love with Austrailian wine lately.

Graveyard Vineyard Shiraz 2005

Easter wine. A dissapointing graveyard. Somehow vegetal and overshadowed by napa and pomerol — 2 months ago

William Shiraz 2011

Dense Crimson in colour. The nose and palate on this full bodied red are more reminiscent of a South Australian Red than the medium bodied savoury style typical of the Hunter Valley. Just the faintest hint of HV sweat and earth. This showed rich ripe black currant with smooth tannins. It’s a pity there was a time when HV wines tried to mimic the SA styles which were more popular. This is an example of that. Quite a good wine but not true to its origins. Thankfully the main HV wineries have returned to their original style - think Mount Pleasant Maurice O’Shea, Brokenwood Graveyard and Tyrells Individual Paddocks. — 2 years ago

Brycefield/Belford Vineyards Sémillon 2007

Very acidic. Much better with food. Nose had diesel or kerosene overpowering everything else. Palate was a pleasant surprise. — 5 years ago
