Bear Flag Wine

Bear Flag Wine

Sonoma County Zinfandel

Only a few sips left. Pairs well with air and probably fatty foods but I only bought one bottle so just enjoying. so glad I don’t have to share. — 22 days ago

Boulder Falls Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Tasted right after finishing the 2009 Bear Crossing. This was also excellent and drinking well. An interesting comparison between the two. While the Bear Crossing had more depth, this one had greater breadth to the palate. Could be that this is ultimately a slightly better wine than the Bear Crossing and that it will gain some more weight in the next couple of years. Doesn’t much matter to me, though, since these were the only bottles of these two wines that I had in the cellar. Both excellent wines, though. Enjoy! — 4 days ago

This tasting goes out to @Bob McDonald - show that flag some respect...
Visually, bricking has begun, but the nose is still lively and youthful. Black cherries and raspberries transition to notes of tobacco, leather and thyme. Palate is consistent, but that signature sweetness is still there, along with a hint of sandalwood. This still has broad shoulders, but it’s much more balanced and fine-tuned with bottle age.
Aussie first-growth in my book.

@Timothy Lynch, I have no idea what you mean... 😉

No biggie, mate. Just that the flag backdrop for your delicious Aussie red only shows the British Union Jack. Yes, the Aussie flag incorporates the Union Jack but, oh, so much more...the Commonwealth Star along with the glorious Southern Cross constellation. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
All the best, Ron. I do so look forward to reading your terrific wine reviews.

Mind you, on a second look—with the Union Jack in the background and the Southern Cross on the labeling—very clever, Ron. 😎

Delectus Winery

Bear Crossing Knight Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Had this a while ago. Don’t recall the details except that (a) it was excellent and in a great place for drinking right now, and (b) it exhibited more depth than the Boulder Falls (which is the next posting - which was also good). — 4 days ago

Bartolomeo Lorenzi

Amarone della Valpolicella Corvina Blend 2016

This is exactly my kind of thing: heavy, perfumey, dark-fruity. Amma-fuckin'-rone.
Bear says: velvety and structured practically faultless. Very yum.
