Poggio al Tesoro

Il Seggio Bolgheri Merlot Blend 2016

Feast tasting Nov 2020. Drank w/ JackD & Caitlin Jan 27, 2021. 50% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot. Such a beautiful nose. Red fruit, cedar. Equally pleasing on the palate w/ fruit, leather, & earth. Love the Allegrini wines, and this Super Tuscan blend is a winner. Will buy more! — a year ago

Palazzo della Torre Veronese Corvina Blend 2018

2018. Amazing notes of berry before tasting. Couldn’t pinpoint exact flavor but very intense. Interesting flavor.

Was able to get the exact same bottle at Miron in Kingston same vintage. $21.99 discounted to $18.69. Very good but didn’t open up with same fragrance as I Italy. May 28, 2022 with Marc and Tim

This wine flies below the radar.
Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and a bit of Sangiovese.
Allegrini makes beautiful Amarone but this wine will always impress you

La Poja Monovitigno Corvina Veronese 2012

Allegrini ‘La Poja’ Monovitigno Corvina Veronese 2012: Full-body. Medium-plus acidity. Soft tannins. Rich palate flavors of red fruit jam, blackberry, plum, vanilla & tobacco. Persistent & silky finish. All in all, this wine presets incredible finesse & flavor. Cheers🍷 — 2 months ago

Recioto della Valpolicella Classico Superiore Amarone Corvina Blend 1982

Ruby in color with a wide and dirty brick rim.

Showing a wonderful nose with lots of earth notes.

On the palate, sweet cherries, over ripen plums, raisins, dried fruits, chocolates, citrus, tobacco, coffee, peppercorn, earth, black tea, wet leaves and herbs.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity.

Nice tangy finish, yet not very long, with fine grained tannins.

I did not decant it, but let it open up in the bottle. I really liked the nose, after 30 minutes of airtime.

Thank you John for sharing this with me.

Nice to see how this lasted so well, even though it is from a bad vintage.

This 39 year old is not at its peak any longer, but still very drinkable. I believe it was way better 10 years ago. Lucky to have the bottle all for myself, as no one else liked it. 😃

Also, great to see that the alcohol is kind of low (for an Amarone).

Aged for 2 years in wood barrels.

14% alcohol by volume.

91 points.
