Rías Baixas Albariño 2020

Quite possibly the best Albariño I’ve ever had. I’m not a fun of the bigger, bitter, floral styles though. This is lean and focused, slightly flinty/reductive in a Chablis style, fruit range is only citrus, leesy character is there but in the background. What’s left is lemon, sea spray, delicate white florals, minerality. Great stuff! — 2 months ago

Albamar Casablanca Valley Pinot Noir

Amazing taste! Fruit forward, with great notes of dark fruit and jam. It mellows out to a warm vanilla and spice finish. Very palatable and a “crowd pleaser.” Only gets better and fuller in flavor without becoming overly strong while it opens up. — 3 years ago

O Esteiro Rías Baixas Mencía 2016

Another Iberian stunner I hadn’t tried before. Pale garnet, translucent at the edges. Gorgeous nose has rose petals, strawberry, dried leaves, black tea. Palate is earth and floral tones, rocks and tart red fruit in that order. There’s like a slight crunchy vegetal pink peppercorn thing going on too. Could go with just about anything (this pizza very much included) — a year ago

O Esteiro Rías Baixas Caiño 2015

Wonderful fresh pepper smell, sorrel and açaí, crisp cranberry and deep complex acid, grip that hits and then goes watery and gives the “chew on grape frawn” feeling, has açaí slight stickiness too, a very nice wine that should be sipped alone imo — 4 years ago
