This lovely red burgundy from Vosne Romanee is a lovely weekend wine and was a splendid companion to the cool summer mountain air .
This village wine is simply sublime, elegant, smooth and delicious. The nose is tempting , the body like velvet and the finish is begging for a second bottle.
To my understanding this domaine doesn’t exist any longer which is a shame! Well at least I still have half a case.

Chateau D’Ampuis is a delight across vintages.
The 2006 vintage is really superb! The wine is smooth and elegant, and seems to be all about balance and complexity.
At 14 the wine is rich and vivid and all the pieces just fall in place.
The nose is enchanting with notes of black fruit, earthiness, barnyard, chocolate, a touch of violets and a hint of floral notes.

Leoville Barton Saint Julien Grand Cru Classe is a lovely Bordeaux that shines again again over vintages. It seems to me that it never surrendered to the Parker impact and stayed true to its old school nature of restrained power and complexity at a good value.
This wine needs time to mature, it’s not made for early drinking and it requires patience and this patience pays of!
The 1998 is simply singing these days and I am so happy I secured a case! The wine is earthy with notes of dry leaves, dump forest floor, coffee, licorice, black currents and cigar box, the body is full and complex with lovely dry tannins that add a nice touch of sophistication and complexity, the finish is long and elegant. Old school and delicious!

Leoville Poyferre 1995 Saint Julien Grand Cru, the wine is still tight and needs time to open up in the glass.
I would recommend an hour or two decant, I didn’t as I try to let it open up in a large Zalto Bordeaux glass.
Once the wine starts to opens up, it’s really tempting with notes of black fruits, licorice, a touch of vegetables, sweet cedar, coffee, tobacco , earth and a touch of orange peals.
The body is full, rich, round with dry tannins that opens up in glass and are well integrated, the acidity is great and the wine rich and luxurious.
The finish is long rich and concentrated!
