Leoville Poyferre 1995 Saint Julien Grand Cru, the wine is still tight and needs time to open up in the glass.
I would recommend an hour or two decant, I didn’t as I try to let it open up in a large Zalto Bordeaux glass.
Once the wine starts to opens up, it’s really tempting with notes of black fruits, licorice, a touch of vegetables, sweet cedar, coffee, tobacco , earth and a touch of orange peals.
The body is full, rich, round with dry tannins that opens up in glass and are well integrated, the acidity is great and the wine rich and luxurious.
The finish is long rich and concentrated!
My score 94, drink to 2026 perhaps longer !

Great concentration, black cherry, underbrush, clay, minerals, tannin fully integrated, licorice, sun dried tomatoes, still going strong, but no need to wait any longer.

Enjoyed this stunning 1995 with a perfect steak meal. So glad I still have a few more on the shelf!

Fab aged @ £150 that’s drinking great but missing a little depth 😁

🍷 Garnet ruby w/ brick edge
👃 Soggy earth & leaves, smoked oak & date, damp cellar, old dark fruits, leather, liquorice, coffee grounds, cocoa, prune jam, pencil lead, minerals & root herby vegetables
👄 Med body of smooth old dark fruits pushing through a subtle mocha & liquorice earthy backbone w/ a date tone
🎯 Med++ earthy liquorice & bitter mocha prune juice dark fruit & cold black tea
