Chief Normal Wine Person, wine writer, and podcaster of Wine for Normal People. I love wine but I hate attitude about fermented grapes.
Totally transformed with food. Went from boring to wow after the first bite (of broccoli nonetheless)! A cru Beaujolais (from one of the 10 towns that makes great wine!) this St-Amour is light, with red fruit and a mineral bite. Fabulous with lighter food. Gotta love a food wine! — 9 years ago
Red grapefruit, flowers, dark spice. So damn delicious. A wow wine, especially for the price. — 9 years ago
A spectacular wine. This importer, Winesellers, Ltd. Importing & Marketing sent me a ton of wine and this is my first crack at a bottle. Always wary with wine sends but this is promising... Outstanding Monsant from Spain. Garnacha, Carinena, and Syrah. Tons of wet clay with cherry, nutmeg, and dark flower aromas and flavors. Great balance of tannin, alcohol and acid. I will be seeking more of this out! Yum!!! — 8 years ago
I am loving this Verdejo but I'm puzzled about why it is so golden. It's not that old, there appears to be no oak or sugar, and it's not tannic (all would darken wine). Also, everyone who has reviewed it has called it straw colored (normal for Verdejo). I guess I don't care that much though - lemon, grass, grapefruit and tartness countered by silky smooth richness. Love it. — 9 years ago
Tasty, easy, pleasing. Nice weeknight wine and a great value. — 9 years ago
The most awesome Vouvray I've had in years. Nearly clear in color, with hay, white flowers and mineral aromas. Bone dry with awesome acidity and mineral/ brine. Love this!!! You? — 9 years ago
The Baga grape from Portugal. A great version of this grape, which can be tannic and terrible when made poorly. This is medium in body, with a woodsy flavor. Cranberry with smoke notes. Reminds me of a good quality Burgundy. — 9 years ago
This #Chablis premier cru could not be more delicious. Minerals + hazelnut with kickin' acidity. Wow. — 9 years ago
Nice Cab. Restrained but still fruity with good tannin and not overly oaky, which is a problem I sometimes have with RS wines — 9 years ago

Nice inexpensive Nero d'Avola. Smells like anise, dark plum, and blackberry. Tastes like raisins, oregano, prunes, with balanced acid and mild tannin. Good Wednesday night wine! — 8 years ago
