Killer #Syrah with amazing freshness #highacidity at the same time as 14.8% alc. so #staritahills all the black pepper and violets on the nose and all the ripe tannins and blackberry candy on the palate. @Ryan Zotovich

I loved that despite the ripeness this was rather well balanced and not overly extracted. Showed finesse of fruit and herbs/spice. Alcohol noticeable but not totally overwhelming.

Zotovich is a small winery in the wine ghetto in Lompoc, CA, with a vineyard in the Sta. Rita hills. Fantastic. Black pepper, licorice, and a little oak. Grilled up some marinated steak tips and enjoyed this bottle with some great friends. Awesome. Very awesome.

This took an hour in the decanter to wake up. Then, very smoky, graphite-infused cassis fruit appeared in the nose, along with a hint of cigar box. Lots of flavor but not a corresponding amount of weight. Dark smoky minerally fruit coats the mouth, with a bit of grainy tannin (but not too much). Reasonably long finish. Comparable to a nice Crozes.

"Easter eve". Grabbed this straightforward Syrah, as I didn't know what else to pair with Mini Eggs! 😂

Age has been kind to this. Much better than before.
