Medium ruby; medium plus intensity aromas of black plum, blackberry, black cherry, hives, sour cream and onion chips; dry, medium plus acid, medium tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, medium intensity flavors consistent with aromas, bitter finish ; medium finish, a little too vegetal and savory for my taste, but well balanced

2015 vintage. Shows the potential of the local Areni Noir grape. Wonderful nose with pomegranate, flowers and a very subtle spiciness. Perfectly balanced and very elegant, somewhere between Pinot Noir and Sangiovese. Great length too. Absolutely delicious and worth the 30 euro price tag. Abv. 13,5%.

A true “Taste of History.” Areni Noir has been cultivated for 6 millennia. This wine Comes from Armenia, in the Transcaucuses where viticulture is said to have emigrated from. Bright ruby red color comes about due to the dark skins of this red grape. Aged in large concrete vats for 12 months and bottle aged for another 6 months. Complex red fruit aromas with light notes of spice and toast. Red Fruits, dried herbs and earth on the pallet. Soft with a balanced a full bodied structure. Mature tannins and long minerally finish. Great wine that is virtually unknown.
