Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Corvina Blend
The 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico opens with an herbal thrust that gives way to dried violets, lavender and crushed blackberries. It is sleek and racy in feel with lifted textures and tart wild berry fruits offset by zesty acidity. It tapers off long and staining, lifted by a bump of residual acidity as notes of red plum leave a pleasantly tart sensation. I quite like the energy here and expect that the 2018 will enjoy a broad and open drinking window. (Eric Guido, Vinous, February 2024)

Sergio Zenato & wife Carla produced quality wines from indigenous varietal, Trebbiano di Lugana, and passed down through generations. Blend of 80% Corvina, 10% Rondinella, 10% Oseleta & Croatina. Medium Ruby color with aromas of dried berry fruits, sweet & smoky notes with pleasant herb spice. On the palate flavors of ripe currants and blackberries with cacao, spice, oak & nutty tones. Fine tannins, long finish ending slightly creamy with cedar notes. Drinking well now, enjoy over next 4-5 years.

Jul 23rd, 2021Dark, floral, elegant and surprisingly savory, the 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico makes itself known as crushed stone gives way to a dusting of confectioner’s sugar, dried flowers, black cherries, plums and hints of licorice. This is velvety yet cool-toned and spry, with a staining mix of red and black fruits contrasted by sweet spices, as bitter hints of espresso bean and round tannins collect toward the close. A twang of balsamic-tinged blackberry and violets echoes through the long-drawn-out finale. Youthfully structured and still a bit reserved, but there are layers of primary complexities to keep the experience highly enjoyable today. That said, the best is yet to come. Nov 15th, 2019Nose has blackberry, burnt toast, blueberry jam, milk chocolate, warm dark chocolate cake, voilets, ripe plum and wet leather.
Palate has blueberry/blackberry jam, toasty oak, dark chocolate, rehydrated raisin, ripe blueberry and ripe plum. Tannins are mild, but resilient.
This bottle will drink easily past its 10th birthday without concern, and then some. I really love this style of wine, the concentration of flavors is second to none.
