Zenato
Alanera Rosso Veronese Corvina Blend
This has developed nicely with a nice mix of fresh and dried fruits character. Red cherry, raisin, prune, espresso, and dried herbs. There is touch of medicinal note as well. Palate is rich and smooth as expected. Resolving tannins still have a good grip.
This can stand toe to toe with a lot of good Valpolicella Ripasso at half the price.

Very earthy aromas, some baking spices and a little funk, some raisiny and figgy dried fruits right after a swirl. The tannins dominate the palate on the first few sips, then are more balanced by some tart fruit acidity. Lighter bodied than your usual merlot and cab sauv... from the corvina, rondinella and corvinone. The Fig Wine from Fall Fruits Class in the before times. Smell it more than I taste it. ]

Oct 11th, 2020Clear ruby color. Nose of graphite and ripe red fruit. Tastes of cocoa, mint, and rhubarb. Highish acid and very tannic.

Apr 19th, 2020A rich ruby color in the glass with a wide brim and light cherry accents. The oak presence on the nose is so beautifully restrained to go along with the somewhat muted blue fruit and underbrush. This is not an expensive wine whatsoever but it really does drink far above itself. This is quality stuff. Mostly Corvina and Rondinella, this is a bit less austere than I was expecting. Big and juicy, there’s an innate smoothness here. Limited amounts of rusticity, there is still a deep earthy element bordering on light funk. That nice oak and leather commingle on the tongue with wonderful results and that’s just when the dark chocolate kicks in. A hint of spice on the shortish finish takes us home. Really good stuff and not nearly as old school as I thought. Something different and fun.

Dec 17th, 2019A hearty Corvina blend that delivers the profile of a baby Amarone pedigree yet provides early drinking pleasure.
Aroma and tastes of plum, raisin, toffee, sweet spice, and tobacco. The palate, though not as rich and luxuries as an Amarone, was round and warm. Lingering finish. 13.5% abv feels a bit heady.
50% of the fruits, including a small percentage of Cab and Merlot, were dried for about 45 days.
A great buy for less than $15.00. Should continue to improve with further bottle aging.
