Decanting really does work! This Syrah was fine right out of the bottle, with nice fruit, but also somewhat tannic and heavy. An hour in the decanter lightened it up beautifully, into a pleasurable balance of rich dark fruits, savory tannins, food friendly acids and earthy minerals, perfect with my leftover braised beef cheeks and mashed potato. Had the 2017 vintage.
