Wynns Coonawarra Estate
Black Label Coonawarra Shiraz

I just prefer Wynns Cabernet to their Shiraz. Quite oaky at this young stage and would appear to have been picked quite ripe like the flagship Shiraz The Michael. Not showing the pepper one often gets from Coonawarra Shiraz.

Jul 13th, 2018Big, long finish with ripe blackcurrant and raspberry flavours. Fruit could be fresher, perhaps a bit flat.

Very round, medium bodied, with great fine tannic structure. There is a slight minty/eucalypt note that is also in the Cab. Deep and pure but fresh.

Very well balanced and controlled. Sweet dark fruit with a savoury edge. High acid and prominent but integrated tannin. GV

JAMES HALLIDAY 95 POINTS!
“Another vote of confidence in this relatively recently introduced label, sister to the Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon. It deserves to be so rated, with a particularly complex palate in terms of texture, structure and flavour. Red fruits lead the band, and there are some darker, savoury, earthy nuances, in turn enhanced by quality oak and fine, but persistent, tannins.” Peak Duration Cellar carefully for 5 to 12 years
