Top Notes For
This is Woodlands best Cabernet Cuvée named after family members or friends - in this case Thomas. Mid to dark crimson with a youthful purple rim. 96% Cabernet, 3% Malbec and 1% Cabernet Franc. A classic Margaret River Cabernet showing mulberry and bay leaf (without the herbaceousness ) cedar and blackcurrant. More elegant than blockbuster. A touch of astringency to separate it from the truly great Margaret River vintages. Had the 2nd one 43 weeks later on 25th April 2024. with similar notes. A touch of bay leaf. I think Jancis’s window up to 2027 is way too early. Other experts have said 2025 - 2040 which is more accurate. It was drinking well tonight. A good Woodlands Cabernet but I’ve had better like 2009. 94 points. Ray Jordan’s wine of the year for 2016.
