My last bottle of 2015 Woodlands Chloe. Quite restrained - very well made. Everything in balance at 9 years of age. Last bottle we had was in early 2023 - matched with the 2015 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay and some tasters preferred the 2015 Chloe. White peach. Not too lean, not too full bodied - perfect balance - a “goldilocks” Margaret River Chardonnay. Woodlands is better known for its stellar Cabernet and Cabernet blends but also makes this fine Chardonnay.

Pale lemon yellow (surprising after 7 years of age). Nutty, cashews, a struck match funky component. More savoury than fruit driven. Medium plus palate intensity. Tastes more old world than new world. An excellent Chardonnay in perfect balance.

“Chloe “ is Woodland’s best Chardonnay Cuvée. Pale to mid lemon in colour. The initially muted nose (a bit cold from the fridge) doesn’t prepare you for the intensity on the palate. Peach and nectarine, buttery vanilla French oak with enough natural acid to stop it being flabby and cloying. An excellent Margaret River Chardonnay with the right amount of age.

See previous Delectable notes. Crystal clear pale lemon in colour. A lovely 10 year old Margaret River Chardonnay. Chloe is Woodlands premium Cru for Chardonnay. A funky nougat type note - lemons and nuts. Not as full as Leeuwin Art Series - more like near neighbours Cullen and Vasse Felix. This wine begs for seafood. Next night quite Citric.

Mid lemon in colour. A complex array of aromas covering citrus, toasted nuts, leesy aromas - slightly worked. Same notes on the medium weight thoroughly delicious palate with white peach creeping into the mix. A first class modern Chardonnay which proves once again that Margaret River produces Chardonnay of the same standard as its renowned Cabernet Sauvignon.

Mid Lemon in colour. Nutty aromas with some orange peel and leesy notes. On the medium weight palate some restrained stone fruit flavours well integrated with the oak - well balanced. Medium plus intensity and length. Proving once again that the strengths of Margaret River are Cabernet and blends as well as Chardonnay. Chloe is the premium Chardonnay cuvée from Woodlands.

Woodlands make one of the best Cabernet blends in Margaret River IMO and this is Stuart Watson’s best cuvée of Chardonnay. Lovely grilled cashew aromas with grapefruit. Medium weight with Citrus and some stone fruit notes. Medium + intensity. Excellent Chardonnay. Another 5 years of potential. Tasted my 2nd bottle 61 weeks later on 2nd March 2019 also at Paros. Richer with more stone fruit richer delicious favours. Excellent Chardonnay. Drinking superbly. Now 95 points. Next in a year.

What a Chardonnay should be - complex, oak, butter, but a supple finish.
