Straw color, very lemony, nice acidity, crisp finish. Similar to a Sauv. Blanc. Product of California, U.S.A. 13.5% abv.

Paired with pan fried salmon stuffed with spinach and cream cheese. Rice and greens rounds out the dish.

The acidity of this wine offset some of the richness of the cream cheese. Perfect combination.

First is the meal, (viva la France) Martha Stewarts white wine Coq Au Vin, and white rice.

The cooking wine is Barefoot Sauvigon Blanc, very dry, notes of apple and pear.

The drinking wine is Robert Mondavi chardonnay, chosen to offset the rich velvety sauce of the Cog Au Vin. This wine is sharp and crisp, acidic with pear notes and a touch of oak.

Lodi Ca. U.S.A. 13.5% abv.

This is very far from the chardonnay expressions I'm used to. There is a hint of honey on the nose along with lemon curd and a white flower touch. Okay. The palate is made of a strong acid backbone and a sweet, almost viscous touch that is a bit tiring after the second glass. Short sugary finish. Inexpensive Yes, but I'm not impressed at all.
