Third of the blind Witchery Wines we are reviewing today.

Deep and dark ruby red. Lots of regular and sweet spices on the nose as well as some dark floral notes, blackberries and a touch savory. Heavy woody tannins (7/10) and medium plus bodied. Layered palate with dark cherries, dark spices and some gravel. With some more time it added some more black cherries, cocoa, became more rounded and very approachable. Very dry and long finish. Will do well for 8 or so years. Drink till 2025. (91+)

Fourth of the blind Witchery Wines we are reviewing today.

Deep purplish ruby red. A touch tight and stinky on the attack of the nose, with some air it gained some dark berries, violets and dark cocoa. Medium plus and mouthwatering tannins (6.5/10) with a medium plus bodied. Not as fruity on the palate as the 2015 but with layers of spices, dark cherries, crushed rocks, and a touch of forest floor. Dark minerality and very dry long finish. Drink till 2023. | Sample, release price is $110.00.

Fourth of the blind tasting for Father's Day weekend.

Deep and dark purplish ruby red. Dark fruits with a touch of acetone or whiskey on the nose. Some cigars and dark cocoa as well. Heavy tannins (7.5/10) and medium bodied. A touch lighter than expected. Extracted dark fruits and bitter dark cocoa on the palate. A little unbalanced with a medium plus finish. This is still a baby and needs time to settle. Drink till 2029.

Third of the blind tasting for Father's Day weekend.

Dark purplish ruby red. Dark fruits on the nose with notes of forest floor and some aged characteristics of mushrooms. Solid acidity and heavy tannins (7/10). Rich palate on the attack with black fruits. Opened up to some anise, a touch aged, earthiness and some minerality. Medium plus body and long finish. Drink till 2028. (91+)

Will leave our last bottle for a few years. Hopefully this will improve with age.

Fifth of the blind tasting for Father's Day weekend.

Deep ruby red. A bit dirty to start on the nose with some aged characteristics of forest floor and truffles. Dirtiness wore off with some air, opening up with dusty black fruits, sweet spices, cedar and a little bit of cigar box. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Well rounded and integrated. Rick attack of dark fruits, sweet spices with some solid greenery and damp leaves, but not overpowering. Long finish. Drink till 2021.

This was enjoyed over a six over period and on day two. Just got better and better.

Second of the blind tasting for Father's Day weekend.

Deep garnet red with bricking on the edges. A touch of tomatoes on the nose with some herbs. Gained some complexity with time in the glass, notes of dark cocoa, a touch savory, woody, gunpowder, dark fruits and graphite. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium plus bodied. Dark fruits on the palate with some nice sweet spices, graphite and a touch of heat. Long finish. Drink till 2021.

Nicely opened up with a couple hours in the glass, and still packing a punch on day two. Excellent inaugural vintage for the Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon from Witchery Wines.

Color: Purple, red clear and opaque not cloudy
Nose: mesquite smoke, cassis, and green herbs
Palate: medium tannins, mid to full body, grips to inner check at the back, dark fruits, blackberry, smooth and silky
Finish: enjoyable and balanced finish
Opinion: amazing drink now, and could lay up to 7 years

Grapes at Norwalk hooked me up with this at a great price—$90. Well worth it as body and flavor are that of a wine 2x price. Great berry opening and long finish.
