Willakia Creek Cellars β Chardonnay / 2023
Willamette Valley AVA β Oregon / USA πΊπΈ
Overview
100% Chardonnay from the northwestern Willamette Valley. A cool-climate expression shaped by marine influence and rolling hillside vineyards, emphasizing freshness, minerality, and balance over overt oak influence.
Aromas & Flavors
Crisp green apple, citrus zest, and pear layered with subtle tropical notes of pineapple and melon. A mineral-driven core runs throughout, adding tension and clarity.

Medium-bodied with a steely, sharp profile. Bright acidity carries the wine with precision, while the texture remains clean and focused. Well-balanced from start to finish with no excess weight or oak dominance.

Grilled shrimp, lemon chicken, oysters, fresh salads, or creamy pasta with restraint.
Verdict
A beautifully composed Chardonnay that delivers freshness and minerality without trying too hard. Versatile, approachable, yet refined enough to elevate a more thoughtful meal.
Did You Know?
Willamette Valley Chardonnays are increasingly compared to Burgundy due to their cool climate, high acidity, and restrained winemaking, often favoring neutrality over heavy oak influence.
π· Personal Pick
I love when a Chardonnay surprises me without being flashy or overdone, and this is exactly that. Steely, sharp, and deliciously flavorful, with lovely minerality interlaced with subtle tropical notes. Casual enough for everyday enjoyment, yet polished enough to elevate a more sophisticated meal.

Jan 21st, 2026Expectations were high as I love everything from ORs Willamette Valley. The Pinot noirs and Gris from this region are superior but still enjoyed this accessible chard. Aging in stainless comes through - did not find any specific fruits prominent.
