One of the higher end Pinot Noirs from Willamette Valley Vineyards. Crimson red with garnet hued edges. Lots of aromatics with red cherries and perfume. Some greenery started to appear and slightly stinky undertones. Palate was slightly metallic and vegetal with moderate acidity (6.5/10). Moderate body and moderate finish with notes of metal and asparagus. Hopefully with time the notes in the finish wear off. Drink till 2020.

It's been a while since I had a non-California Pinot. My immediate reaction to this Pinot is clean, structured, and pretty, with an interplay of fruit, earth, and gravel. Tart plum and red berry flavors are present, but exist in harmony with terroir-driven minerality and delicious acidity. (sample, $55)

Willamette Valley Vineyards's founder Jim Berneau's first planted Pinot Noir block brings us this bold Pinot decades later. It was the best on the Reserve flight I enjoyed w Sergio, Wesley, Bull & Christi & my long time friend Zach who picked up this bottle for dinner Jan 2016; what a gift to enjoy together
