Bought on a lark at auction. Edit: this has been open for a couple days now and wow - v impressed. Howell mountain fruit from a producer originally founded in 1898. 2000 vintage still vibrant and interesting. Def got lucky with this one!

Dec 6th, 2020Cheers to Scott Barber for opening his home and sharing some great wines. This '91 killed it. Not much else is better than aged mountain fruit! Could still get a decent amount of dark fruits, and the tannins were but a whisper. Super smooth & still had good life at 25 years old.

Sep 30th, 2016Howell Mountain never disappoints, cassis, black fruit, some plum, tobacco, leather, lots of minerals. Nice long finish, with some tannins still present. Outstanding.
