Top Notes For
Sipping Fine Wine

Bright Ruby with rich red fruit aromas and complex floral spice. On the palate sweet cherry and raspberry flavors, nice body, fine layered spice and oak, a little more pronounced than recent vintages. Soft tannins, great mouthfeel, well balanced with acidity, ending with slight earthy character. Very Nice!

Old fashioned soda shop stuff - stir of nutmeg laced candy cherry-raspberry cola and tonic. Balanced nicely with green peppercorn and strawberry rhubarb. A proper cocktail.

I have an affinity for the first reactionaries against the big oaked Napa wines of the 1990s and 2000s. These guys/gals deserve more credit than given for connecting wine with my generation and all before Natural Wine was a recognized term.

Chris Whitcraft was one of these guys buying the best fruit (from places like Hirsch) and leaving the the rest to the land. His son, Drake, took over in 2009 and built out a flourishing business.

This one is excellent and has a high acid rustic murky full bodied tingly perfumed persona. It’s very complete - a full circle. Big exploding sour cherry and red currant. All in harmony.

My first taste from this producer and what a pleasant surprise it was. There was great depth and purity of fruit for an appellation wine. Subtle notes of earth complemented bright red fruit flavors. Long finish. Delicious. Thanks for the suggestion @Shawn Paul
