Weingut Schnaitmann
Steinwiege Lemberger
The time has come to think of Blaufränkisch (a.k.a. Lemberger) as the poor man's Beaujolais.
This took a while to open up... but with a little patience, man, one reaps rewards. Dark brambly fruit, light-bodied, but still a brooding wine, with supple, fine tannins. Had this chilled. Rainer Schnaitmann runs his cozy winery in a suburb near Stuttgart, where he serenades his barrels to Mozart, in the glow of candlelight. Lovely wine.

Medium garnet, nose of red fruits, a bit jammy(?). Light in the mouth, raspberries, strawberries & red plum. Low tannins & lower alcohol and smooth, if cool is refreshing. A nice lighter wine- very Pinot Noirish- pairs well with chicken, pork, heartier seafoods.

Nov 14th, 2020My favorite unusual wine to suggest to Malbec drinkers. Easy fruit on the fruit, smoke on the back end.
