Fresh tasting, light, penetrating and cool. Wild berries and herbal tea. Birch bark. Nice trifecta of fruit, herbs and earth.

13% ABV.
40% Spatburgunder and 60% Fruhburgunder.
Only 300 bottles produced(?).

If you’re a “Burg-freak on a budget” and haven’t yet looked in to what Germany has to offer...well then - you’re missing out.

Fantastic nose that if tasted blind most likely would put me somewhere in 1er Cru Vosne Romanee or Gevrey.
The palate is a bit more revealing of its origin and to me lacks a little verve/volume to be confused with true Burgundy but it’s damn close.

(this was another buy from Fass Selections, who gets my vote as THE stateside source for great German (and other European) off-the-radar finds.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

60 Frühburgunder and 40 Pinot Noir. What a damn wine. Nose is so unique, peaty and spicey with serious Centrgrafenberg earth. Very sweet fruit and a wine that kept changing and changing. Opulent mid palate and finish was a mile.

So different. Earthy floor with restrained berries. Love it.
