Awesome, expressive nose of big ripe cherries, mulling spices, cinnamon, cardamon, clove and bitter citrus. Such an aromatic nose. Tiny berry fruit intensity and just awesome depth. Palate is spicey, sweet and super fresh. Wonderful spice and oak accents. Terrific length. Supple texture and lovely sweet fruit and oak. Very fresh and complex. Air is this estate’s friend so I’ll be back. 9.3 for now.

9.3 to 9.4 overnight. - Big, ripe cherry nose. Spice and less oak than yesterday. Elegant, juicy and complex. Very elegant and pure. Zero oak today after significant wood yesterday. lovely freshness and length. World class.

Been about 1.75 years since I’ve had this. Nose is mid to late season cherries. These are deep and layered cherries. Insane spice and campfire notes. Super aromatic. Palate is terrific with high acids, great freshness and a supple texture. Super sweet fruit and tannins and so much acid! I love it. Really sweetly textured and lovely tiny berry fruit intensity. Long finish with loads of sap and structure to burn. Brilliant!

Nose of smoke, spice and charcoal. Deep cherry as well. Ripe but also superbly complex and showing secondary. Gorgeous minerals and sous bois. Palate is explosive, juicy and sweet but sadly a little warm. 14.0% in Franken in 09 is bound to show hot. Darn.

This is rocking today. Amazing fruit and freshness. Such pure vivid mid season cherry. Earthy and leafy with great stoniness. Wow. Palate has just stunning fruit, so rich, textured and deep with drop dead purity. So elegant, mineral and fresh. Brilliant. Such tiny berry explosive fruit.

First taste of 15 Walters! Vey exciting. What a youthful, packed and dense nose. Big, ripe red and black cherries and berries. Spice, flowers and a tiny berry fruit intensity. What a great nose. Whirling spices. Stunning. Palate is incredible. So juicy and concentrated with terrific acidity and a compelling sweetness. This is ridiculous. Gamey, meaty finish. Such delicacy and finesse. There is NO way this is that good. But my score is my score. Incredible. This is brilliant.

14% alc. Screw cap.

First tasted as "pop n' pour" and enjoyed again with 24 hours of air this is starting to wake up.
A VERY good PN from Franken and although the areas/AVA stylistically are different (like comparing Cab from Coombsville vs Oakville in Napa) the reference points for me for fantastic German Pinot's are still Henrik Möbitz (Baden) and Chat Sauvage (Rheingau).

@Lyle Fass Walter is a great producer, and I love this vineyard. As usual, even better on Day 2 than Day 1. Thanks!
