Sunday night and I have opened the 2016 Josef Leitz Rüdesheimer Magdalenenkreuz Spätlese Riesling from the Rheingau region of Germany.
On the nose there is green apple, lemon/lime, pear, the ever present rubber bicycle tire, honeycomb and jasmine.
On the palate there is the green apple, apricot, pear, lime, petrol, lanolin and a good minerality.
This wine is sweet but in balance, light to medium in body with a smooth oily mouthfeel and medium + acidity which leads right into a medium long fresh fruit finish.
