Love the warming notes of spice, sandal wood and layers of forest growth in this, but the oak tannin becomes too much and dominates for me. Departs dry, woody, and somewhat astringent. Almost seems like the cooperage selection and toast was mismanaged perhaps? I still think Becker makes some great Pinot, just not particularly over the moon on this one.

The 2014 is very expressive, complex and brooding. Dark, sappy fruit coats the palate with herbs, licorice and anise. Lovely mineral tones on the finish. This is an outstanding example from the region.

Really like the fox on the label. [decanted for 30 min] Funky and complex nose: licorice, white pepper, almost no fruits. Very well balanced - medium acidity and good tannins. Finish is awesome. Excellent nicely aged Pfalz Pinot. From 3rd Corner, Encinitas.
