Yesterday’s Wednesday Wine Committee, hosted by @Jeff Meyer , was so educational with fantastic German & Austrian wines. 1 sparkler, 5 whites, 5 reds, 1 dessert wine. All served blind as usual.
Very dry and minimally sweet German Riesling. More Alsatian like due to its dryness. Mineral driven with limestone, very little petrol, low acidity, underripe Asian pear. I called this Trocken styled German Riesling.

Beautiful, "cool" nose. Lots of herbs, withdrawn fruit and a hint of sweetness on the nose. Medium acidity on the palate, very dense, in the last quarter the wine shows very energetic. Long, salty aftertaste. Needs some more time to really get together and sing. Nevertheless a strong showing.

Nose is flinty . Green apples.
Palate is green apples and minerals. Nice richness.
Let see how this evolves.
As it opens so good. Creamy minerality. Delicious.

Palate is bright minerally green apple. So fresh. Juicy. Crunchy rocks.

Lovely Moseley mineral nose. Gern apple on the palate. Nice density. Almost creamy. Love this wine.
As this opens it has this rocky intensity. Minerals bound with fruit. Sweet rocks on the finish. So good.

Sep 10th, 2019Hmmm. This has been open 45 minutes and it’s a bit bashful. Love the slate and lemon pith. Some lemon soda. Pretty finish. Mineral and lemony. But it’s not wowing me. Nice. Nice. Not wonderful but nice. Could be semi closed at this stage. ... ok after 3 hours this came out of its shell. The density is apparent. Stone fruits. Rich. A wow wine. Yet terrific purity.
