Kamptaler Terrassen Grüner Veltliner

First two times I bought this wines I took it to dinner at friends' places and it ended up undrunk behind enemy lines. This time I took matters into my own hands and opened it at home. Very sound expression and good to drink - cool, fresh and long. Nose of apple, citrus and something akin to buttered parsnip, mid weight in the mouth, fresh and lemony with a radish-like bite on the back palate. The acidity is unobtrusive but drives it through a very nice, fairly long finish.

Well priced smokey, dry goodness

Vegetallll- green bean/white asparagus/snap peas. Underripe grapefruit, pithy pulp. White flower stem. Would prob call Sauv blanc blind. Dry and austere, w/ Asian pear, pear pulp, pear skin, grapefruit-Creme fraîche, palate is mouth coating minerality that's almost annoying.

Fantastic. Great with local Sonoma cheeses and start to the evening.

Riper than previous vintages. Solid effort

Acidity is just perfect! Bone Dry just the way I like it!

Intro

Rock solid lovely young Grüner. Very aromatic citrus on the nose - Riesling from a distance, until you come into those more grapefruit peel, mango skin notes on closer inspection. Lifted on the nose and tight on the palate, but with generous fruit that fans out more than its Riesling cousin on the palate. As seems often to be the case with these young ones, drinking it a day after opening is even better - more Grünerness and expression in general. Only a touch of stone and spice here, but it's the crystal-clear fruit and structure that make it so good.
