Just decanted 15 minutes ago to separate the sediment, the color looks like it’s starting to mature. Nose is a quarry-full of cracked stone and some whole black peppercorn. A little dry garrigue note. Savory in the mouth. It’s got nice acidity and still some tannin to shed. If you really concentrate, there’s a little dark mountain berry fruit, but this is really all about everything BUT fruit.
UPDATE: Night 2, after 24 hours under vacuum closure, the palate is a little broader and shows a bit more fruit. Upping score from 8.9 to 9.0z

So different than Pax. Blood, cherries, soft easy touches of meat.

Great nose leaps out of the glass with iodine and roasted green herbs, dark pungent, juniper-inflected berry fruit. Really nice flavor concentration, pillowy soft tannins, nice length, and nice acids. Beautiful wine.

Intriguing though more dried green herbs than expected in Syrah.

N: Bright and blackberries enveloped in a cloud of smoke . Brambly forest
P: a few pine needles and a hint of black pepper are mixed in. Touch of vanilla and cocoa.

Color of dark ruby, yet quite clear. Nose of vanilla, chocolate, a bit oak, and a bit strawberry. Taste is spicy, peppery, pure and round, dried strawberry, oak, a bit grassy, subtle and refined acidity, a bit salty bacon note, and low tannins. Aftertaste is smooth with more spicy note, oak, a bit plum and dates, a bit of mineral, and no edge savory. Only drawback is the nose, or she will be great.

Dec 9th, 2018CVed 8/29/17 3 Pimot comp. Funky and darker berry notes on nose and hints of tobacco and tea leaves became more prominent over two hours in glass. Sweet and floral notes on body with slight hot finish and teas leaves carrying through. Interesting but wouldn't call it well balanced. JR $30.
