Second wine at the Reserve Tasting at Waterford with Justin. Deep garnet edges with a ruby core. Dark plums on the nose with spices, light greenery and licorice. Solid acidity and medium tannins (6/10) with a medium body. Well integrated with stewed dark berries and solid minerality on the backend. Long finish. Drink till 2020.

Made up of 95% Shiraz and 5% Mourvèdre. Aged for 17 months in young French oak barrels and 3,500 cases produced.

Lots of ocean air minerality and oyster shell. Sweet spice. Bit sweeter than I would like but nice componentry.

Waterford Estate Kevin Arnold Stellenbosch "Ashleigh Anne Shiraz 2012 is lighter than in previous vintages, more Syrah like spiciness, it is quite "meaty" & animal like, which can easily be confused with brettanomyces character.
Bright, savory and fresh, subtle oaking.
