Freedom Hill Vineyard Chardonnay

This wine is going to be incredible in a few years, lemon, orange blossom, green apple, green pear, minerals, medium plus tannins, nice grip. Well done Walter Scott!

I love the crisp, lemon, briny-ness of this wine. Less oaked than most Napa chardonnay but not quite as mineral as Chablis. $70, 98 pts RP.

A crisp, lemon-y chardonnay. Less oak than Rombauer. I got notes of tobacco last time I drank this but I got less of that this time around. Well-balanced. Robert Park gives this 98 points. $69.95.

Typically wonderful Walter Scott Chardonnay.

Beautifully reductive though it needs time to open. Light stone fruit emerges, lemon peel, great minerality on the finish

I get used to Rombauer as my chardonnay baseline. This held up and then some. It’s not quite as oaky and mouth-filling, but it’s still terrific. The main note of difference I got was tobacco, and I really enjoyed that.

Lemon zest, grass on nose. Medium body, dry, pleasant acidity. Pear, minerals, lemon. Outstanding!
