Walla Walla Vintners
Columbia Valley Sangiovese
Walla Walla Vintners Sangiovese 2021, Washington State
This is a simple Sangiovese from Washington State.
Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate with cherries, strawberries, oak, earth, herbs and red chili pepper.
Short and spicy finish with grippy tannins and tart cranberries.
Tangy and spicy.
Unbalanced and better with food.
Not my style.

A warm and wonderfully appealing nose of berry scone.
Saline soaked fruits here, in this medium bodied wine. Blackberry (fully ripe) prune, cranberry juice, mint, popsicle stick tannin and loquat acidity. A really lovely, enjoyable wine, from a winery I have come to really, really enjoy.

Love revisiting an old standby. A nicely crafted fruit forward Sanjo. Cranberries, graphite, fig notes. Nondescript nose.

May 24th, 20192010 is bright/acidic cherry flavor, rose petals, red plumb, and medium body which make for a strong initial flourish in the mouth that doesn't linger terribly long. Cool year, go figure. Very good, but not anything to get too excited about.

Jul 21st, 2017Wow! 2007 was a great vintage and 10 years on, it still shows brilliantly. Wet stone, raspberry/cherry and a faint cedar note on the nose. Still tannic and grippy, with spicy notes and a wonderful dried cranberry and ripe raspberry flavor that fades into a hint of white pepper and plum.

Mar 19th, 2017A nice mid weight red that goes great with calzone. Nice raisin, jammy combo.

Mar 24th, 2016Bright acidic berry. Punchiness reflects the alcohol content. Never really bloomed, though. Saw an earlier commenter say it has “popsicle stick tannins” and I can’t think of a better description.
