Höllberg Großes Gewächs Riesling

Slightly on the plump side - at least for now. Interesting to see how it evolves.

First time I've ever used the word "thiolly". Grassy with tart citrus and a hint of spearmint. Long streak of acidity. Not my thing for German Riesling...

Great tension, acid, and minerality. A stunner.

May 11th, 2020A bit of spritz. Very rich. Honey. Not over the top. Nicely mineral. Some age in the nose. Maybe some mint.

A case for ripe and rich on crazy acidity. Quite an intense wine that really begs for air to play. That said, this was far more open than the 17' Heerkretz I had this week. Bouquet of stone fruits (peach, nectarine) verging on exotic (mango). Palate's lush, creamy even, but cut with high acidity and vibrant salinity. There'a a nice herbaceous touch in the finish. It's an excellent GG, but I reckon some might find it too rich (product of the vintage).
