On the nose there is black pepper and roast meat. Medium weight and savoury. Oak has been integrated. As I’ve said in previous notes if you’re going to grow Shiraz in the Margaret River it needs to be in the south near the town of Margaret River where this is from. Maybe Margaret River can do decent Shiraz. Better known for its excellent Cabernet and Chardonnay. Tried another bottle a year later in July 2023 with consistent notes. Meaty and peppery sums it up. Very Northern Rhone in style.

Rich and smooth - plum and dark chocolate. As in previous posts I did not think that Shiraz is best suited to Margaret River but I might have to change my stance after this aged Voyager Estate. Had a few of these and this is the last and best. Tannins largely resolved.

Dark crimson with Purple tinges. From the colour you would never think it was 9 years old. Medium to full bodied with rich chocolatey Berry flavours - an excellent Winter Shiraz. Have never been a huge fan of Margaret River Shiraz but this is pretty good.

Riper and bigger than I am used to with Margaret River Shiraz - rich and luscious with ripe blackberry on nose and palate. The intensity and silkiness of a good Barossa Shiraz with s savoury spicy touch to add a little Northern Rhone.

Medium + crimson. Aromas of dried meat, berry fruits and black pepper. Very mellow on the medium intensity palate. The big plum and dark cherry of a few years ago has faded somewhat. No need for further cellaring but will be good drinking for several more years yet. One of Margaret Rivers better examples of Shiraz which remains better suited to Cabernet and blends.

Ripe fruit characters yet spicy savoury at the same time. More Northern Rhone than Barossa with pepper/spice. Perhaps Shiraz can work in Margaret River?

Need to revisit this. Not where I expected it.

Corporate gift hence the non standard label. Deep crimson in colour. Peppery notes lacking in complexity. Tastes "bigger" than expected, with firm tannins, given the wet 2006 vintage. 16.5-.

For those unfamiliar with anything but S.Australian Shiraz, this wine would surprise. Rather than boisterously big berry fruits, this '02 Voyager had lifted notes of dried violets tethered nicely to hints of bacon. Tasted good too.

Structured, shows that dusty note I associate with Margaret River red wines, this needs more aging, but really a lovely MR Shiraz.
