A nice lineup of six Barolo-like reds, from 1999-2014.

I have no idea what the grape variety(ies) is/are, but this is is very like a hypothetical cross of a crunchy Beaujolais and a Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. Rustic and grapey, with forceful acids and some tannin. A little violet, leather, and earth in the nose too. Tastes more youthful than I expected for its 7 years of age. Nice with pasta! Thanks to my bro for this one.

2011 vintage. What a surprise!!! I held this Albarossa for a couple more years and it is awesome. I recommend to sit a bit on your Albarossa and if you have a chance to have Viotti even better.

Interesting stuff - there is very little Albarossa produced, a recently created varietal.
Says nothing of Piemonte, as it is much bigger than the Nebbiolo wines of the region. Big modern, but tasty nevertheless.

A bit fizzy. Will try some other bottles. Otherwise, it has a nice backbone to it.

Apparently the grape was created from a cross between Barbera and Nebbiolo( though some sources suggest a French grape). It reminded me in some ways of Barbera, but not so much Nebbiolo. I was thinking more dolcetto. Med bodied. Decent fruit.
