Vinhos Barbeito
Rare Wine Co. Historic Series Special Reserve Baltimore Rainwater Madeira Boal
I found the “flaws” that come with Madeira to be a little too overwhelming in this wine. Obviously high in VA but the aldehydes really took over, robbing a lot of character. Woody, dusty, and raw brown spice w/ veneer of oxidizied-dried apple. The palate revealed a little more, most likely with the additional boost of RS.

May 17th, 2015For anyone who may not be familiar with Madeira, this is a great starting point. These are well priced & Rainwater is an a accessible, elegant style. The quality is undeniable here as RWC is passionate about Madeira.

Oct 10th, 2015Lovely. Soft texture, bright lime and tangerine flavors that lead into some walnut skin bitterness and butter toffee hints of sweetness. FWIW, I was under the impression this is made with Tinta Negra, not Boal.
