Il Piccolo Terre Siciliane Syrah

Initially this showed a surprising amount of development. Became more elegant over days. Showing rose and salt on day 5.

Brilliant. Really aromatic and expressive, with black olive, sweet bay and some oregano. Aromatic intensity is off the charts. On the palate this is tart, lithe, and masterfully balanced, and there’s a pleasant sweetness on the finish. For me this humble bottling has it all.

Cool wine from Sicily.

Wow. Silly good. Mineral and floral blast from the get go. Black currant, olive, smoke, tea, woodsy red and black fruit profile. Violets and lilacs and Mediterranean herbs unfurl in the glass over hours, along with complex fruit and spices. So crystalline, elegant, seductive. Light, but minerals are through the roof. And the clarity! This producer works magic with French varieties in Sicily and this feels unexpectedly about terroir.

Beautiful open with a mix of strawberry, wet earth and nicely integrated tannins. Love this kind of more red fruit profil. The 13,5% Alc are well balanced. No heat.

Past the bleeding cork, my encounter with this little gem sparked my love once more for Sicilian reds. Serve cool. 27/8-2022

Kalamata nose for the first 24 hours that overpowered everything else; day 2 this was great genius layered wine, full bodied and surprisingly good.
