Vincent Dauvissat
Irancy Pinot Noir
Irancy, Côtes d'Auxerre, Burgundy, France

From a minuscule plot that covers barely more than an acre; this is one of Vincent Dauvissat’s rare red wines. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of 90 minutes. The 2022 Irancy pours a slightly dull, ruby color with a translucent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, fresh and funky notes of strawberry with stems, red flowers, and a mix of cool and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. A round and balanced expression of Irancy. No doubt the vintage comes into play. Lovely stuff with charming personality. Drink now through 2037.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of dinner at Le Crypto. FWIW, this was a touch reductive upon opening and just needed about 30min in large burgundy glasses but after that, this was fresh and beautiful. The 2021 pours a ruby color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of strawberry, red rope licorice, cranberry, dried red flowers, sous bois, and a gentle mix of cool and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. After a sluggish start, this finished with a flourish. Drink now through 2036.

Dec 6th, 2025Very tight with the aromatics focused on earth. I hope this will loosen up because it could be very pretty.

Wasabi peas, horseradish, cabot cheddar, trail mix. Maybe better on day 2, i hope.
