For the money, this packs a serious punch. Extracted raspberry with lavender, spice box, plenty of minerality, and a touch of brown sugar. Aside from its somewhat short finish, this pushes all the right buttons.

Amazing nose to start, very complex with lots of fruit, strawberries and plums, plenty of oak, but I also get hints of coffee and even mint. On the palate, tons of harsh tannin and very bitter, almost like drinking grape flavored chalk. Let it decant for a while and then enjoy it with either meat or sharp cheese. Better yet, let it sit in the bottle for a few more years and see if it calms down.

2011 A bit bitter and tannic with a dry chocolate cookie, but with cheese a completed different wine. Rounded, chocolate and clove, fruit, jam. Still tannic though
