Viña Sastre Crianza Ribera del Duero Tempranillo

The 2019 Crianza is made with Tempranillo grapes from a vineyard planted in 1960 in La Horra, Ribera del Duero and was aged in barrels for up to a year. A dark garnet-red in the glass. Presents sour cherry and strawberry jam, vanilla and smoke aromas on the nose. The palate is dry and velvety with polished tannins and well-balanced acidity that lead to a pleasant, savory finish. Capa y densidad alta, bonito color, en nariz frutas negras, vainilla, canela y tabaco. En boca buena entrada, secante controlado, buena tanicidad, final agradable y largo.

Exceeded expectations for the crianza (and definitely ready to drink now though plenty of life left), though of course I was a bit disappointed not to get the Pesus for that too-good-to-be-true advertised price :)

Something a little off on the bottle, but otherwise nice character.

Dark fruit, medium-to-high tannins, leather, touch of all-spice. Hint of vanilla. Perfect with patatas a la riojana and some manchego.
