We tasted a lot of big wines this day, but this, my birth year wine was a standout for me. I truly believe nearly no modern wines will age this well. They often seen plenty ripe, but often miss a tension that exists (and would probably taste under ripe in a tight wine) in these older bottles.

A beautifully balanced wine. Lovely fruit. Lovely acidity. Is better than the 78 and 73. By this wine showing nicely. Classic ripe strawberry aroma.

This bottle was impossibly youthful. Certainly had the aromas of mature Rioja, but with the fruity sucrosity of a current release. Not unrealistic to hold this in a cold cellar for 20 more years.

Simply stunning. We drank the 1976 vintage which remains incredibly fresh with a lovely balance of fruit and tannins. Amazing and a fabulous wine.

Incredible freshness. Cherry, raisin and leather spice on the nose. Very well balanced, a beautifully balanced mouthfeel and a lovely hint of spice on the finish. Another 2-5 years of life in it but still spot on right now.
