My last Wednesday Wine Committee to attend this year. Quite the lesson in Spanish wines! As always, all wines are tasted blind.

The nose on this smelled of so much orange blossom and marmalade, that I was convinced the finish would be a sweet Muscat. Unfortunately, the finish was very short and not sweet at all. I was a bit stumped.

Bodegas Viña Nora faces a natural terrace above Facing a natural terrace above the river Miño, located in the town of As Neves, within the wine region of Condado do Tea, bordering Portugal. Was able to taste 2014 & 2015, now the 2015. Pale yellow with gentle fruit and floral aromas, more pronounced than 2014. On the palate white flesh fruit flavors, a touch of herbs and generous minerality. Crisp on the finish ending with lemon zest notes. A bit better than 2014.

Classic example, to me. Saline, yeast, and citrus with medium plus acid.

Mineral-driven citrus and orchard fruit aromas are complicated by suggestions of white flowers, ginger and oyster shell in this sappy Albariño from Spain’s Rias Baixas. (JR)

Good every day drinking wine. Dry and alcoholic not too much citrus. Good with Asian food. Paired with okra in dashi with fried garlic chips and yuba salad with sesame dressing. (Fine Vintage $105)

Fabulous version of #alborino from #riasbaixas . 12% sees some old oak and it adds surprising complexity to a fresh fruit filled wine.
