Our New Year’s Day tipple. Welcome to 2021. This Coeur du Cuvée had Toasty Lemon and freshly baked bread. An interesting changing palate with lemon/grapefruit/citrus dominating. Amazingly fresh for a 14 year old Champagne. 80% Chardonnay; 20% Pinot Noir. My first bottle of this a few years ago was more impressive. Expected a little more complexity.

Lemony mineral nose with a touch of caramel (oak). Crisp lively and refreshing with a long persistent palate. A brilliant champagne in all respects. From a single vineyard. 80% Chardonnay 20% Pinot Noir. Tasted again a day later and even more impressive and complex. A long future ahead. 97 points.

The Vilmart is smashing. So vibrant and fresh on the nose, so opulent and alluring on the palate. I'm not usually huge on Champagne, but that might be just because I don't get to drink Vilmart more often.
